UEFA Nations League: I’m humiliated, says Van Dijk after Italy defeated Netherland

Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool regretted the Netherlands’ 3-2 loss to Italy in the UEFA Nations League semifinals on Sunday in the third-place playoff.
Federico Di Marco, Davide Frattesi, and Federico Chiesa scored for Italy, while Steven Bergwijn and Georgino Wijnaldum scored for the Oranje.
After losing to Croatia 4-2 in the semifinals, Ronald Koeman’s team has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Van Dijk, who was visibly frustrated after the Italy defeat, said, “It’s just not good enough. The first half was bad. This can’t happen. You play for your honour today. I feel ashamed.”
Former Tottenham star, Rafael van der Vaart, had already slammed Van Dijk over his role in Chiesa’s goal for Italy.
“Virgil van Dijk is being criticised and rightly so. For 20 minutes, I thought: he is back, but that moment with Chiesa.. he is basically doing nothing.”
