Lalong asks NLC to a meeting on September 18

Simon Bako Lalong, the minister of labor and employment, has given the Department of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations the go-ahead to schedule a meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership for Monday, September 18, 2023.
According to NAIJAPRESSNEWS, the minister had summoned the two labor unions to a meeting in an attempt to prevent the two-day strike that took place on September 5 and 6. However, only the TUC turned up.
Olajide Oshundun, the ministry’s director of press and public relations, said in a statement on Sunday that it was crucial for the unions to communicate with the government to resolve any outstanding issues in order to prevent additional economic hardship.
The minister asserts that in order to ensure industrial harmony, which is essential to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda, President Bola Tinubu’s administration would constantly engage organized labor and address its issues after due engagement and talks.
